Christians are a Danger to the New Normal

Over the past week I finally took some time off. It’s been four years since I’ve done that, and suffice it to say, the break was much needed. But the Eastern European surname “Bobinski” is often transliterated as “one who is always busy,” and I can relate. I still did a few interviews and I still recorded my radio show, but during this past week I had more bandwidth to ponder what’s coming. And, following the wisdom found in Proverbs, I had a few conversations with informed friends whom I respect.

The result has been choosing to be a bit bolder in discussing that which I’ve not wanted to discuss openly, which is there’s not much hope for the America we once knew. The name of my TV show and radio show is “Keep the Republic,” and I thoroughly believe we should work to that end, but quite frankly, the Republic is in the hospital’s critical care unit and may soon need CPR.

Is all hope lost? No, but I would say the chances of turning the ship around are getting slimmer. Much slimmer. It will take an intervention from God through a ton of prayer plus a ton of principled confrontation. Restoring the America that was designed by our Founders will require an upheaval that most citizens of this country aren’t likely to want.

Our country has changed

The only thing new about “the new normal” is that those who are pushing for change are now using the phrase openly. They’ve been working to change our idea of normal for a long time.

• We’ve had 100+ years of socialists taking over America’s public school system, and Americans have been lulled into accepting what’s been fed them. The ripple effects of that teaching have been devastating to our country’s fabric.

• We’ve had 100+ years of socialists and globalists inserting themselves into American politics, diluting the morals and principles that should have been guiding the decisions of those we put into public office.

• We’ve had 100+ years of churches becoming little more than corporate entities, where protecting their corporation became more important than making disciples – who could then step up to be community leaders.

In his letter to the Massachusetts militia on October 11, 1798, sitting President John Adams wrote, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." That statement reflected many of the Founders’ beliefs; that the stability and effectiveness of our Constitution depended on the moral and religious foundation of the American people – as well as those who serve in government positions.

Many don’t know it, but the word “religion” at the time of our founding was often a synonym for “Christian denomination.” If, at the time, I asked you what religion you were, I would not be inquiring as to whether you were Buddhist, Muslim, or Christian. I would have been wanting to know whether you were a Baptist, Methodist, or Congregationalist.

By the way, before anyone goes off that America is not a Christian nation, I refer them to a statement from John Jay, our nation’s first Supreme Court Chief Justice, who said in 1816, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”

And, in an 1892 case, Supreme Court Justice David Brewer stated the United States is a Christian nation. Brewer also went on to publish a series of lectures in 1905 under the title, “The United States: A Christian Nation.”

Matters of Perspective

If we were to describe the majority of our Founders, the term “Constitutional conservative Christian” would apply.

• They were certainly Constitutional. They wrote the thing.

• They were certainly conservative. They wanted limited government (extremely limited), they emphasized individual rights and liberties, and they respected private property.

• They were overwhelming Christian. Of the fifty-five signers of the Declaration of Independence, fifty-two were Christians. And twenty-nine of those were involved in Bible societies or other extra-church organizations.

Sadly, many today refer to Constitutional conservative Christians as “extremists.” You know what? From their perspective, they’re right. When one holds a socialist / communist / globalist worldview, anyone outside their bell curve is an extremist.

In truth, when looking at the Founders’ principles, it’s the socialists / communists / globalists who are the extremists. But today, those who want a new normal have wormed their way into the power elite running our nation, states, and cities. And, with help from similarly minded people in the media, they work overtime to convince the world that it is Constitutional conservatives Christians who are a danger to this country.

Again, from their perspective, they’re right. Christians who work and pray for the country to return to its founding principles and practices are a danger to the implementation of their “new normal.”

Get Used to Being Uncomfortable

Scripture is clear: “Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it.” Even the self-described Diest Benjamin Franklin acknowledged as much when he called for daily prayer in Congress as they debated on the Constitution.

In the beginning of the contest with G. Britain, when we were sensible of danger we had daily prayer in this room for the Divine Protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a Superintending providence in our favor. To that kind providence we owe this happy opportunity of consulting in peace on the means of establishing our future national felicity. And have we now forgotten that powerful friend? Or do we imagine that we no longer need His assistance.

I have lived, Sir, a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth -- that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without [H]is notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without [H]is aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings that "except the Lord build they labor in vain that build it." I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without [H]is concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the Builders of Babel.

Franklin’s words are as true for us today as they were back then. Only instead of having just dealt with a foreign enemy invading our shores, we have internal enemies seeking to destroy us from within. One need only look at how the FBI, CIA, and State Department (among many others) work to discredit and dismantle Constitutionalists, conservatives, and Christians.

To return our country to the principles of our Founders, we must have more people standing up boldly for those principles, and more people praying for God’s divine intervention.

It will not be received well.

• We will be lied about.

• We will be slandered.

• We will be attacked on multiple fronts.

The socialists / communists / globalists have become experts at doing those things. Therefore, prayer will be even more essential as life will become extremely uncomfortable for Constitutional conservative Christians. Pushing back at this scale will be different from anything we have had to do before.

But, to quote a popular character you may have watched on TV, “Get used to different.”
