Have You Ever Conducted a Spiritual House Cleaning?
Ever do a spiritual house cleaning? Recently I was convicted to remove from my house whatever was dishonoring to God. I thought about donating the items, but God nudged me, reminding me that when the Ephesians came to know the Lord, they did not donate their idols of silver or their talismans and books on magic (what we might refer to as witchcraft) to the local Ephesian thrift store. No, they brought their God-dishonoring possessions to the town square and burned them. Scripture says the total value of the items burned equated to 50,000 days’ worth of wages.
And so, I decided to throw away objects that dishonored God. I threw out thousands of dollars worth of CDs that glorified sex and drugs, I went through my bedroom which contained wood and marble and silver carvings of dragons that I'd purchased overseas in Asia while I was in the service. If there was a chance that a spirit was attached to an item, or if an item was blatantly dishonoring to God, it was tossed.
Readers of this post might think this is/was extreme. I will clearly disagree. A friend of mine did a spiritual cleansing of her house a while back, and after she was done, she heard an audible voice that said, "Thank you for honoring me." She instantly knew it was God speaking, and that He had appreciated her eliminating things from her life that ran counter to His principles.
People who read my posts know I've been strongly recommending YouTube videos on Randy Kay's channel (https://www.youtube.com/@RandyKayMinistries), on which he interviews people who've died, went to heaven (or hell, or both) and then are sent back. In one of those interviews, Jesus asked the person, "Why do you have so many gods before me?"
I felt convicted I had things in my life that dishonored God and they needed to go. And, now that they're gone, I can tell the difference. The house feels "lighter" and "purer."
In Ephesians 4:25-32, the Apostle Paul tells believers to live as new creations in Christ and avoid sinful behaviors that could give the devil influence in their lives. Specifically, in Ephesians 4:27, we're told, "do not give the devil a foothold."
Despite what some people think, demons did not just exist in the time of Jesus. They are active in our lives today (someday I'll have to write a book offering my entire testimony), and I've come to strongly believe that when we give evil entities a foothold, they take advantage of the opportunity and then start messing up our lives.
Sure, you can choose to not believe any of that. And if you're not a follower of Jesus, don't worry about it -- you have a bigger problem to be concerned about. But if you do follow Jesus, I speak with experience - evil entities will take whatever avenue they see open to damage or eliminate your effectiveness for the Kingdom of God.
God deserves ALL our worship and praise. What would HE have YOU do to honor Him in your home? Pray - and listen for what direction He may lead you.

Announcement – regular subscribers of this substack, please note: I’ll be altering my focus moving forward. The name on the substack is “Keep the Republic,” and previously, all I wrote about were social and political issues. However, lately I’ve come to realize that we can save (keep) the Republic all we want, but until we return our country to its Biblical roots – and unless people realize the truth found in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%2015:1-4&version=NIV), then what does it really matter? If the Republic gets saved but people are still marching into hell, then what good does it do?
With this shift of focus I’m reaching out globally to redirect people’s attention to God. Nobody is paying me wages to do that, so if you feel so led, I welcome and give thanks to paid subscribers (monthly or annually or whatever) to this substack. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions and thank you in advance for your support.
