Greetings to all who follow Keep the Republic.
This is to let everyone know I’m shifting gears, and “Keep the Republic” as a brand is going away. In its place you’ll be seeing a new name, “Keeping Things Real,” which (coincidentally) keeps the same “KTR” acronym. :-)
Here’s the full story:
Ever since I turned 18, I’ve been a watcher of political things. It was 1979, and Ronald Reagan was about to win the Presidency. I was intrigued by all the “conservative” and “liberal” and “independent” viewpoints, and along the way, I also learned about the “Deep State,” although that term would not come into common parlance for at least another 35 years.
After six years of active-duty in the military, I continued my interest in politics. So, when some friends ran for local office, I helped with their campaigns. And then I helped some of their friends run for office. All were elected, and I felt like I was making a difference.
That is, until I found out one of the candidates I helped get elected was a fake. She lied about so many things, she was actually recalled. That hurt. I’d put my face out there, helping her get votes, only to later learn she was a fraud.
It was so embarrassing, I decided I was done with politics. I walked away and stopped helping anyone running for office. Don’t misunderstand, I was still concerned about the issues, but I read about them only, and then made my way to the voting booth each election. That was it.
Pursing a business career
From there, I focused on building my business of executive and management coaching. I also created and taught courses to help companies improve their communications and teamwork (I was teaching Emotional Intelligence since before it was a thing). I even went back to college and earned multiple degrees in workforce education – how to create training from scratch on any subject.
Along the way I built a respectable small business. I had four employees and a dozen contract trainers, and although I was on the road 50% of the time, I made good money and changed a lot of lives. I also authored several books, one of which became an international bestseller (Creating Passion-Driven Teams), and I wrote on workplace issues for multiple magazines, newspapers, and websites.
Everything was business as usual until 2019. One day in the summer of that year, my largest client, AT&T, who had been with me for 10 years, called to inform me they would be switching to AT&T University to provide the services I had been providing. I get it. It was a business decision to keep their money in-house. The problem? AT&T was 50% of my income. That was a huge financial hit.
It was 2019 and I continued to watch politics from afar. I was appalled at how much the Deep State was derailing Donald Trump at every turn in his efforts to fix America. As long as I can remember, I believed having a seasoned businessman in the Oval Office was what this country needed. But at this point, the Deep State was dropping its guard. It’s players were carelessly letting themselves be seen for who they really were (for those who had eyes to see it).
And so, with much less work filling my calendar, I found myself reading more about political issues. One day later that summer I was intrigued by a piece written by Tracy Beanz, founder of UncoverDC.com. Today when you visit her website, a pop-up will appear, saying “Subscribe!” But in 2019, Tracy’s website was fairly new, and when I clicked on the article, the pop-up said, “Are you a writer? We’re looking for writers.”
Yes, I was a writer.
And I needed additional income.
And I definitely had political opinions.
I called Tracy. Tracy called back.
The next week I began writing for UncoverDC.
Diving into journalism
Having excelled in college, I enjoyed researching political issues, and each week I cranked out an opinion piece. I enjoyed connecting the dots for readers, and the Deep State had no shortages of dark, dusty corners to explore.
Tracy insisted I attend CPAC in February of 2020, and I met many people while conducting interviews from our booth on media row. It was great making those connections, but two weeks later, Anthony Fauci recommended shutting down the country. Of course, that opened an entirely new set of topics to expose, not the least of which was “masks.”
Did masks really stop viral transmission? I poured over the published medical research papers on masks at the NIH website, PubMed Central (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov). I wanted to be fair and balanced. If masked worked, I’d report it. If they didn’t, I would report that, too.
Guess what?
Nearly a dozen gold-standard research projects with verifiable outcomes were conducted over nearly 15 years PRIOR to the politicization of masks in 2020. And they ALL showed that masks did NOT prevent viral transfer in any environment. So yes, Fauci’s mask hype was all part of the psy-op.
The title of my column was, “The Mask Fallacy,” and it went viral. Soon I got a phone call from Alan Keyes’ producer. Alan wanted me on his TV show to discuss the article.
I’ll spare you the details, but that connection led to a solid friendship with Alan Keyes and me being a regular guest on his show. That led to me guest-hosting for him, and then I was asked to host my own TV show. Along the way, a local conservative group in Idaho approached me about hosting a conservative show on terrestrial radio. And, as if I needed more to do, I got tired of all the fake news pouring out of my local TV and newspapers, so I decided that Idaho needed a news website which published actual truth instead of Marxist spin … and so I started a news website for my state.
The TV show and radio show were called “Keep the Republic.” I conducted interviews with many newsmakers, and several of those went viral. I hosted Medical Truth Summits and Medical Truth Roundtables with leading medical experts. My articles began appearing on even more websites, such as RedState, and then I started producing 60-second daily commentaries on issues in the news.
By 2022, I was full-bore into news and politics. I began the monthly Ada County Liberty Dinners, so people could hear directly from conservative candidates in my state. I ghost-wrote speeches for Idaho candidates. I ghost-wrote articles for national news figures. All of this while doing my weekly live TV show, interviewing top newsmakers, and hosting the weekly radio.
I kept plowing ahead in 2023, creating a weekly podcast with Alan Keyes called “After Hours with Bobinski and Keyes.” But in early 2024, God let me know He had different plans for me.
In January of that year, the TV platform for my show decided to take a different route. All 54 shows on that platform were cancelled. In the next month, February, the Christian radio station on which my radio show aired said they were moving away from doing political shows, so that ended, too. Along the way, Tracy Beanz shifted UncoverDC as she created collaborations in a different direction, and I didn’t feel led by God to participate.
God had other plans
Now before I continue, let me back way up. Over the course of nearly four decades, I’ve been on part-time staff at several churches (depending on where I lived), and even “pastored” a small church for few years. But, I’m not a pastor, I’m a teacher. So also in late 2023, I hung up the “pastor” hat and I was idle for a few months.
However, with me being a solid Christian who senses the leading of the Holy Spirit, I definitely felt God nudging to resume teaching the Word. I made that known to a friend, and about the same time all the TV and radio stuff was closing down in February of 2024, I was asked to start teaching a Bible study in a saloon.
Yes – a saloon.
Jump ahead to the summer of last year, and I began pressing into God in a very real way. Even though I’ve been a believer in Jesus for nearly four decades and have served in several pastoral roles, I realized I had much more growing to do and much more surrendering to do. As God does, He started connecting me with other believers who were making a difference for the Kingdom of God, and I embraced the Lord like never before.
In November, just a few months ago, I was asked to assist with creating & producing a twice-weekly podcast, which would be called, “Heal the Broken Hearted.” God made it pretty clear I was supposed to help, so that started the first week of December.
In the first two months of 2025, I’ve been waiting for clearer instructions from God on how to proceed. However, we humans sometimes rarely want to let go of what we’re used to, and I confess I kept one foot in the political realm. Not as much as I used to, but God noticed (duh). And the past month or so, He gave me a few rather strong nudges. Some of them painful. It’s reached a point I can no longer ignore them.
Therefore, I’m announcing that here at the end of February 2025, five and a half years after diving into the political (cess) pool, I’m climbing back out.
What can you expect?
Starting in March of 2025, you will see “Keep the Republic” go away, and “KTR” will mean “Keeping Things Real.” In addition to writing, I expect to be doing a podcast that educates and informs on a wide variety of topics. Whatever else besides the podcast, I have some ideas, but we’ll see how they play out. I imagine God will have me using the knowledge He taught me through the school of hard knocks over the past five and a half years (conducting interviews, creating short-form videos, etc.).
Know that the new “Keeping Things Real” will not be purely evangelical. I intend to use the new brand to discuss many aspect of life, but it all will stem from a Biblical worldview.
In addition to faith, expect to hear about family relationships, finances, fitness (mental, emotional, and physical), workplace issues, home issues, and yes, if the Lord allows, even the occasional cultural / political issue. But again, the foundation will always stem from Biblical principles.
As I look around, I’m saddened that so many of my friends in the political realm are taking drastically opposing stances on so many issues. It’s gotten so bad, some of my conservative Christian friends publicly trash talking each other. This should not be.
My focus going forward will be on God, because God IS truth (Exodus 34:6, Deuteronomy 32:4, Psalm 119:160, John 14:6 and John 17:17).
Obviously, some of you chose to follow this page because of my views on political issues. Thus, as I move away from politics to discuss a wider range of topics, you may choose to sign off. That’s okay. You need to do you. But if you stick around, I pray you find value in the content I will create and share.
Shameless self-promotion
This turned into a long piece, so if you read this far, allow me to do a little shameless self-promotion:
I still do executive and management coaching, and I still conduct communications and teambuilding classes (mostly online now), and I still help companies create world-class training – on any subject. I also teach corporate trainers how to effectively transfer knowledge, skills, and attitudes through a world-class Train-the-Trainer course I designed that meets or exceeds “certified trainer course” requirements in all 50 states.
In fact, I’m confident that ALL of what I offer is world class, so if you are interested in any of what I just mentioned, ping me to inquire. And know that I always offer a money-back guarantee.
See EQFactor.net for more info.
I’m also grateful for those of you who subscribe and/or donate to my work doing writing and podcasts. THANK YOU for your continued support!
If you wish to sow into what I’m doing with the new “KEEPING THINGS REAL” platform, in many ways it will be a powerful ministry. So if you choose to donate, I say a huge “THANK YOU” to you in advance. You can become a paid subscriber here on Substack, or one-time or ongoing donations to KTR (Shadowtrail Media, LLC) can be made here: http://tiny.cc/KTRdonation
Moving Forward
Now that I’m opening wide the door for writing about more topics, expect to see more columns coming your way. I’ll be discussing life in all of its facets.
Bottom line:
“Keep the Republic” is going away.
“Keeping Things Real” will be the new KTR.
So share KTR with your friends.
From here on out, we’ll be Keeping Things Real.
